Like hurricane winds converging over Upstate South Carolina, CATEGORY FIVE has become a rock’n roll force to be reckoned with. The hard rockin’ roots of this band extend way before the first time the four guys got together in the Fall of 2003. Not only are all the guys 'well seasoned' musicians but, they’ve been friends for years.
Guitar player Hunt, drummer Kelly Harris, and bass player Richard 'Turk Jr.' Taylor have been playing together for a couple years in several bands and had 'crossed paths' many times with former Black Cat frontman Byron Hopkins. All of them have been on the South Carolina music scene for a long time and when the opportunity presented itself a four piece powerhouse was born. The results are named CATEGORY FIVE.
With the February 2004 release of the four song E.P. entitled 'Evacuation Route' CATEGORY FIVE proved they ARE a strong force on the Southeastern music scene. After playing local bars, clubs, and festivals throughout 2004, CATEGORY FIVE spent the end of the year in the studio putting the finishing touches on 'Landfall'; the group’s first full-length, all-original CD.
April 2005 brought the release of the much anticipated 'Landfall' CD. CATEGORY FIVE plans to spend most of 2005 building their fanbase by playing Southeastern shows throughout the year, telling the world THIS storm isn’t gonna blow over !
