COUNCIL OF THE SUN
Band Biography

  • From: Miami Beach, FL
  • No. of Members: 5
  • Year Established: 2000

Our chemistry is pioneering,' says Mishua Drie, who found his love for music at an early age and has since gone on to play with and inspire a host of popular artists. His eclectic guitar and bass styles developed with influences from Eric Clapton, Aphrodite and an intimate jam session and life-long respect for flamenco guitar legend Paco de Lucia. Before Council, he shared his musical talents with other local bands including Colombian sensations Desybil, Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopez 's husband Andre Rison's and a host of Afro-Cuban bands. Mishua & Zedek are the creative force behind Council's production and song writing.

All one would need to understand the universal appeal of their music is a glimpse of Council's regular fan base: they are young and old, funky and flashy, rockers and hip-hoppers and they all seek the positive vibrations that only Council can generate. Join the brotherhood in their journey by visiting their website at www.councilofthesun.com for more current information about their upcoming performances, albums and band news.

The band is formed by JASUN on drums, P-Tah on bass, Mishua-Drie on guitars, vocals, production & programming, InerVolt MC on main vocals & production, Wavelength MC main vocals.

In just a few years, they have built an impressive venue list including Hard Rock Marley Fest, Miami's famous Tobacco Road and the world-renowned Art Basel Festival playing to live-audiences in the thousands. They have also played live in The Roof on MUN2 for cable audiences in the millions. Along the way various performances have helped to catapult the band toward their musical success including a concert in 2002 with the legendary Afrika Bambaataa. The concert interwove Bambaataa's old school flavor and break dancing and graffiti contests with the positive and eclectic vibes of Council. Cementing their reign as the hottest Hip Step band in the states, fans have come from as far away as Ohio and New York to see the show in Florida.Their organic thump has also been a vehicle for the band to give back to their community. They've played to benefit South American's children, Latin Special Olympics land mine-victims and are always ready to let their sounds act as a soothing balm wherever it can make a difference.
