Broken Mold had its beginnings in early 1997. Broken Mold started writing new material while revamping old material used in previous projects. Not knowing whether to go with an acoustic sound or add percussion, the band continued writing together while trying to establish the music’s direction. After adding percussion and a female vocalist, it was no longer an issue of establishing a certain sound but just going with the flow.

Broken Mold's sound is a definite blend of many forms of music ranging from, alternative to rock and even a little folk rock. Using positive lyrics accompanied by high energy music has proved to be something all people enjoy.

The five members of Broken Mold consists of Eric Murphy on accoustic guitar and lead vocal, Misti Presley on lead and backup vocals, Brian Millar on lead guitar, Grant McCarty on bass, and Mark James on drums.
