In 1992, Brent Orndorff began writing and playing original music at the age of 13. He started as a lead singer for an original rock band, which began playing shows in local small clubs on the weekends by the time he turned 15. By age 17, he and his band mates caught interest from a local producer and they soon signed an agreement with Celestial Records. Soon the band (The Groove Parade) was playing shows every weekend all around the Midwest. Since then, Brent has been involved with several bands, including The Groove Parade, CrookedM and NONA. At age 26, he has written more songs and played more shows than he cares to count.
In October, 2002 Brent created Blame Records and opened a public studio in downtown Terre Haute. He recorded several clients while working on his first solo CD: 'Never Stop Playing'. The 17 track album was released in April 2003 and earned him a spot at the 2003 NY Music Festival at Madison Square Garden. Brent is currently finishing up a second release – Brent Orndorff & The Blue News Project. The new songs are best described as 'soulful and groovy.'
The release will feature several guest players like Reg Raisner (lead guitar), Bill Gregory (bass) and Jeff Winchester (drums). The CD is set to be co-released with Statue Records (Los Angeles, CA) in the spring of 2005. Brent’s performs as a one-man-band in his current show, looping several instruments to build songs live. Although the CD is a solo release, there are various guest musicians playing on the recordings. The various featured artists may perform with Brent in some live shows as well.
