Guitarists, Marcos(21) and Carlos Treviņo(24) have been strumming their unique blend of World and Latin guitar for more than six years. Landing a gig as the house band at the Presidio Restaurant in their hometown of San Antonio back in 1995 under the name Tierra del Sol, they began performing mostly cover songs by influences such as Strunz and Farah, Ottmar Liebert, Gipsy Kings, and Santana. Marcos and Carlos were slowly but surely developing their own take on the Nuevo Flamenco sound that was becoming more and more popular with listeners.
After regrouping two years ago and renaming themselves Border Palace, the duo began writing and performing mostly original material. Their sound had now evolved into a melting pot of their favorite music from around the world including Flamenco, Salsa, Latin Jazz, and Afro-Cuban. After numerous requests from supporters, the brothers Treviņo released their first CD of all original material. The recording would also be backed with Latin percussion and bass guitar for a more dynamic sound. It promises to give listeners a fresh World music sound that will hopefully be heard more as they continue to perform in and around San Antonio.
