When Ben was learning his first instrument he had no idea that he would end up doing this for a living some day, well he isn't because his first instrument was the banjo. When Ben first started playing guitar he fell in love with it. He practiced sometimes five or six hours a day! This made him progress very quickly, as well as practicing with his father. After about a year Ben, his friend Ray, both on guitar and vocals, founded Blue Shift. After a couple of months they added friend Chen, who would take over lead vocals, and Jake, on bass. They were going to begin practicing their songs but one week they got news that Ray was shot and killed.
This broke up the band, but not for long they reformed with all the originals and added a drummer, who eventually left Blue Shift to pursue other things. So they brought aboard long time friend and co-songwriter Foggy on percussion. The sound is cleaner now and has more of those earthy tones that we want, I don't know there is something tribal about it.E
Their sound is recognizable, with the deep to high dynamic vocals along with a blues style guitar player, a bass player who plays like a rhythm guitarist, and a percussionist and no drummer would seem to most to be a soft emo rock type band or jazz band, but Blue Shift rocks with the best of them, with powerful meaningful words blasting through the speakers these six have in the making an album with over Twenty five songs that all convey the message they want while exploring a genre they call Pirate Yak FuE With a combination of Rock, Gospel, and Tex mex blues, these guys are ready to Rawk.
