Big Meat, (Dan Griffith-Guitar and Vocals, Kevin Rees- Guitar and Vocals, Ryan Marks- Bass and Vocals Geoff Leonard Drums and Vocals) originated in New England where they played for eight years throughout high school and college, all the while becoming closer and closer friends as their abilities increased together. This August, 2005, they move to Orlando, FL to start playing music as a full-time career, though they have been gigging professionally for four years in New England, playing at notable establishments such as The Webster Theatre (Hartford, CT), The Living Room (Providence, RI) Trinity College (CT), Muhlenberg College (PA), Connecticut College, and The University of Rhode Island, as well as many other venues and festivals. Every show they draw and entertain fans with their original mixture of funk, rock and roll, improvisation, and humor.
Although they are all accomplished musicians, Big Meat is a band rather than simply a group of talented individuals. It is the unique outcome of the jolly foursome’s collaboration that makes them special. The music is deep and often complex. The lyrics are stories ranging from monsters invading the house to anecdotes about dreaming you’re a golden retriever, taking you through adventures like getting sprayed by a skunk and running from the dog catcher. They maintain a steady humor but also delve into the more serious inquiries of the human state, such as their own wish to make music for everybody’s enjoyment, including their own.
In addition to written compositions, the “Big Meat” live experience also includes raw moments of pure spontaneity, exhibiting an obvious love that they have for playing music together. Their passion is to share these moments with you.
Big meat has completed three albums of original material. They are “It’s What’s for Dinner (© 2001),” “Bigger than the Bun (© 2002), and “To Be Perfectly Frank (© 2005).” They graduated college this May, and are coming to a venue near you. Peace and Live Well, Sincerely, Big Meat.
