Barbara K began her solo career this year with the release of her CD 'READY'. She was a founding member of the band Timbuk 3 for 15 years before embarking on this solo journey when Timbuk 3 split.She has released her CD on her own label Fire Sister Records in January 2001.She is a mesmerizing live performer and her recorded work will bring joy, hope, and dance into your life.

Barbara K has a free form and improvisational approach to performing with other musicians, sometimes she plays with just an acoustic guitar, her voice and a tabla player and sometimes with a full amazing dynamic band.Groove is a predominant part of her sound.

Barbara K has been receiving airplay on a number of Texas radio stations including KGSR 107.9 and was featured in the Austin Chronicle, and Texas Monthly.Right now she is formulating a business plan to fully fund Fire Sister Records with Australian singer and songwriter Lisa Richards. Fire Sister Records will release uplifting joyful songs of life.
