The Origin: What started as a cover band out of Penn State University has now become one of the biggest names for original music in Pennsylvania. Axum has played everywhere from The Elbow Room in NYC down to The Imerial in Jacksonville. They have played with some of the best bands out there, including Jimmy Eat World, Our Lady Peace, Goldfinger, Violent Femmes, Reel Big Fish, Chevelle, Apex Theory, Caroline's Spine, Laughing Colors, and Isle of Q.
The Music: Axum's music is supposed to make you think. The lyrics deal with life in a way that is not straight-forward. Take the time to understand what is going on within each song.
The Goal: Axum will find you. With the release of the second CD in March of 2002 the band has decided to take it to the next level. They have put a large focus on touring and making friends throughout the country, especially targeting the East Coast. If you do not see a nearby city on the touring schedule, e.mail the band about a venue where you think they should be.
The Destination: Axum is looking to change your brain. It has become accepted that being hardcore means being unhappy, which is contrary to any rational thought. You get to play life exactly 1 time and if you waste it by complaining about your past you don't get to go again. Bad stuff will happen to you and you can either overcome it or get taken down by it. You don't get to be hardcore because your life sucks. You earn it by beating whatever situation you're in. Become hardcore.
