Argine
Band Biography

  • From: Naples, Italy
  • No. of Members: 6
  • Year Established: 1992

The name Argine derives from the metaphor life-river. Life brings experiences as the river drags debris along in its flowing. We liked to identify man with the banks of the river (in italian bank=argine) which restrain water, such as man restrain life; as water bursts its banks devastating everything, so sometimes life submerges us with unexpected events; as the river is not always in flood, so in our life the moments of chaos have a start and an end.

The band started in 1992, with a strong post-punk background. The first works show a band belonging to apocalyptic folk scene, even if with many contaminations and a strong neoclassic influence. articular is the use of many classical instruments such as flute, violin, trumpet, ghironda. uring these years the band has evoluted, not forgetting its style and background but giving much voice to electric instruments such as bass and electric guitar. So the second album is more powerful and, above all, the band now has a stronger live impact, even if there are also songs with a gloomy and melancholy atmosphere and neoclassical instrumental track

Till now we've released: ---- three demos in 1996: I COLORI DEL SILENZIO,MUNDANA HUMANA INSTRUMENTALIS, ELIACO ---- MUNDANA HUMANA INSTRUMENTALIS, cd Energeia 1997, first album --- MARISA ALLASIO, 7' limited to 1500 copies, Energeia 1998. The title track is a cover if Italian New-Wave band DIAFRAMMA, sung by their singer Federico Fiumani himself --- ROMA, live Lp limited to 500 copies --- MEMORIE, mcd limited to 555 copied with two unreleased tracks and two remixes of 'Corpo ed Anima' by Alessandro Izzo (AMOK) and of 'Memorie' by Cristiano Santini (ex-DISCIPLINATHA) --- LUCTAMINA IN REBUS, cd Oktagon 2001, second album
