Anima In Fiamme
Band Biography

  • From: Naples, Italy
  • No. of Members: 2
  • Year Established: 1998

Anima In Fiamme was born from the ashes of Nadir, a band gothic/electronic dark oriented. Nadir project took place in Sept. 1996, and at first was formed only by Ferruccio Milanesi playing bass and Genno playing guitar, looking for other good elements. In January 1997 Pasquale Scotti joined the group as vocalist, and the impossibility to find a good drummer caused the decision of remaining a trio, with the use of drum machine and a workstation. As Nadir we made some concerts, in which was evident our attempt to make proceed at the same pace both music and the care of aesthetics, of any particular that could reinforce the atmosphere of the concert. This would have been, in the future, one of the elements that characterize Anima In Fiamme.

The need of going on and evolving our musical research drove us to found another project, ANIMA IN FIAMME ('SOUL ON FIRE'), to celebrate the inmost flame and passion which forces us to create and to live, and a tribute to Romantic Art which flows in our veins, and to make deeper in our music both classical and industrial references. Two terms and attitudes in apparent contradiction, but we think they are our natural evolution.

In ourselves we feel voices of past centuries, with their way of composing and living, the aristocratic spirit which raises from mud and from pettiness of common lives; but our contemporary world is much different from what we feel inside and we would have liked to see around us. So sometimes the music we compose is pure fruit of our souls, played in our imaginary beautiful courts, while sometimes is contaminated, scratched by nails of modern world, by its noise and cries, played in a filthy dark lane.

We have released tracks for various compilations and an album 'SUB OCCASUM SOLIS' for the French label PRIKOSNOVENIE. In this album there are 12 neoclassical tracks, with influences varying from Baroque to Romantic Art. We have used many instruments like harp, oboe, basson, clarinet, cello and others and there is also a song where we use all oriental instruments. The first track 'Marcia Trionfale' has been recorded live in Regina Coeli's Church with three trumpets and organ. In the album there is a cover of RADIO WEREWOLF's 'The Night' and of PAULINHO NOGUEIRA's 'Bachianinha n.1'.
