Amass came to power in May of 1999. The original sound had more of a classic feel to it where as the current music is insanely heavy and darker. Each member incorporates a totally different influence and sound. Because of this, the music is undescribable but I will say that Amass is one of the most brutally real bands around. Everything is written from real experiences and feelings, it's emotional and fucking skull-pounding.
With gut-wrenching vocals from singer Mike Morris; deafening guitar tones from riff-architects Bobby Dirks and Chris Stout; thick and sick lows from bassist Jason Haley; horrifying custom sounds from sampler Pat Thrift; and the lightning-fast accuracy of drummer Brinton Dirks, Amass puts a whole new look on modern-day metal.
Even with the intensity, Amass didn't want to totally confine themselves to writing extremely heavy music all the time. They wanted to still be able to incorporate their old style of occasional light, melodic parts in songs. They are not, however, going to let this factor change the direction of their music in any way. They will always be brutally heavy. Amass takes a lot of pride for having a totally original sound. Their unique style of metal brings nothing but hope to them. All the different influences incorporated into the music brings forth an onslaught of sounds. They follow no one, and have no intentions of ever writing music on someone elses terms. Amass hopes to leave their mark on the metal scene with plenty of pain and blood left behind. The VIOLENCE is coming....
