Ace and Artemis formed in the Spring of 2004. Initially, Gabe and Ben started writing really corny piano ballads together. When an artsy kid came and asked them what song they were covering, so he could 'download it online,' Ben and Gabe were misled into thinking their stuff was half decent. It was lucky that this happened, because had anyone given their real opinion, it's unlikely Ace and Artemis would exist today. A few weeks later, Dan came over Ben's house with his bass and played along to a few of their songs. He didn't say a word during the whole rehearsal but Gabe and Ben liked his playing and gradually they realized what a funny, charming young man he really was. Ben knew that Luke played drums and asked him to join the band. At his 'audition,' Luke rocked out for a solid minute, tearing up his kit like he was a surgeon, beating his toms like he was Jerry. A few months later, Tim slept over Ben's with Gabe and forgot his toothbrush but remembered his trumpet. He played on the chorus of a new song and joined the band the next morning.
Currently, Ace and Artemis is having a ball playing and recording across New England. They've just come out with a brand new live album, aptly titled Ace an d Artemis Live! Their upcoming LP release is slated for for 2006.
Ace and Artemis hopes to provide music for people who are interested in the compositions and creation of sound through means different than those exhausted by previous rock bands. With a nod to the greats, Ace and Artemis makes a push into the future -- in the studio and on the stage.
