Angelwhore have unleashed an assault upon the UK industrial scene, releasing their debut single 'Superman.' A complete cross between NIN & Marilyn Manson, you'll either find them absolutely brilliant or a re-hash. But even if you fall into the latter camp, you should still be impressed by their agression, energy,Ê and especially their musicianship. You see few bands play this tightly. To their benefit, their sound, despite its obvious influences, is something completely lacking on the UK industrial-goth crossover scene. Quite simply, over here there's no one to compare their music or their stage presence to.
'Superman,' currently their signature track, is an excellent track and nothing more than a complete blitzkreig. The march of the army symbolized by lyrics of differentiation, and egotistical arrogance such as 'While I create, you masturbate' suddenly shifts into complete destruction. 'I am Superman / I am not what I am / ... And I hate everyone / And I hate....' The 'Speeding Bullet Mix' of 'Superman' is a lot more dancefloor friendly, in every sense, and is actually one of the few remixes I've ever liked and it should do well in the clubs.
Angelwhore aren't pioneers yet. They have a similar sound that's been done before on my side of the pond, but they do it rather well. The upside is they're doing it well at the start of their careers, which leaves their future wide open to improve upon the style, take it to new heights, and then piss on the rest of us from above with their overwhelming hatred of, well, just about anything at all so it seems.
