Amplifico were conceived in a bedroom studio early 2004, by four young musicians with a long standing shared passion and ambition to create and perform innovative new music: Donna Maciocia (vocals, piano, guitar), Brett Allan (bass), Ross Kilgour (guitar) and Dave Brunton (drums), all aged 22-24. Their music is a product of their incredibly wide ranging tastes and influences, creating an original, yet very accessible overall sound: infectious, soul-felt, radio friendly vocal melodies, set to warm, dynamic grooves, melodic guitars and head nodding beats.
Playing together since the age of 13, they constituted four-fifths of the well-established band Risingson. Their achievements in Risingson included playing the ‘T in the Park’ and ‘Go North’ festivals, releasing 3 critically acclaimed CDs through Fife Label Path Records, and touring hundreds of dates across the UK, taking them from London to Wales and even the Shetlands. Risingson also made it to the final of the National Student Music Awards, winning ‘Best Band: Scotland and the North’. Their live show gained much praise from industry insiders such as: “A band worthy of playing big stadiums….a band not to miss” Vic Galloway, Radio 1.
With this wealth of experience behind them, Amplifico are well prepared to take their new music to audiences further a field with an electrifying and charismatic live performance not to be missed. The existing fan base response to their new musical direction at recent gigs since Risingson really has been phenomenal – there is a sincere feeling the band are onto something special.
Amplifico have just released their first three track CD entitled ‘Hometakes – Volume I’. The CD was entirely written, recorded, produced and designed by the band themselves at home and, as the name suggests, is the first in a series of recordings to be released over the coming months.
