Alterlife began its journey as Panel By Panel. Guitarist Kyle Hlubek met drummer, David McFadden in the winter of two-thousand and they began jamming together, building what would be the foundations of the first Alterlife songs. With the addition of bassist, Joey Kelly, and an unspecified former singer, Panel By Panel played several well-received performances on the local Jacksonville scene. When that singer failed them in the studio he was subsequently let go. The name 'Panel By Panel' belonged to the former singer and made its exit with him.

Enter singer, Ryan Norton. Kyle had been frequenting the same late night hang outs and music stores as Ryan since 1994, and the two had engaged in numerous conversations about music and life. Kyle had told Ryan of his new project with a drummer, Dave, who worked at one of those music stores. Ryan, at work with a band of his own, considered asking to audition for the spot in Kyle’s band, but hadn’t yet been invited. Just as things were winding down with Ryan’s project, he received that invitation. He was asked to check out a cd of one song with no vocals and consider auditioning. Ryan jumped at the chance. Floored by what he’d heard on the disc, Ryan wrote lyrics to what would later be called “Larva” and was in three days later.

Within two weeks, vocals were laid on “larva” and it was evident that the line-up was solid. Ryan and David collaborated on vocal parts with equal input from Joey and Kyle. A democracy had been birthed. After much deliberation, they agreed upon a name. Alterlife.

The sound of Alterlife’s music is a refreshing alternative to the prepackaged NU-Metal infesting the airwaves of every town in America and abroad.With its exotic melodies and Psychedelic feel, Alterlife brings to mind some of the classic forefathers of metal while retaining its own very modern sense of self. Imagine Tool and System Of A Down meeting Zeppelin in a dark alley which leads them into a sun-drenched meadow where they purchase LSD cooked up in Glenn Danzig’s garage from Pink Floyd. The music is immediate and dire, heady and soulful. It is apparent that these four people are together because they love music. Metal needs a swift kick to the posterior and Alterlife has the boots full of led. Unconcerned with modern music’s Pop-flavored in Vogue media assault, Alterlife is busy crafting some of the heaviest and most original sounding art to grace the Rock scene in a long, long time. Alterlife is presently writing, recording and rehearsing nearly six days a week and setting up shows coupled with an intense street-level marketing tactic. Be ready. Be prepared. Be changed.
