ABYSS is an Atlanta based Hard Rock/Alternative band with a wide variety of influences. Demond Smith, drums, draws influence from such artists as Prince, Public Enemy, Rage, and Fishbone. Dave Keating, Bass, is inflenced primarily by 70s and 80s punk and rock bands (from Rush to Dead Kennedys). As if that wasn't eclectic enough, Benny Bischoff was inspired by such guitarists as Gary Moore, Zach Wylde, and Alex Lifeson. On top of that, Scott Team (vocals) was driven primarily by such bands as Rage, Alice in Chains, and Early 311. ABYSS has used these diversities in influence to develop a sound and a style that is completely original in the Atlanta music scene today.
In November of 2003, Abyss began performing live at select venues around Atlanta. The high energy and catchy tunes quickly get the crowds attention then get then keep them jamming throughout the shows. Abyss can be found month after month at the following venues: Smith's Olde Bar, 9 Lives Saloon, Masquerade, The Library, and The Last Great Watering Hole.
