'A Man in Motion' was formed during the winter of 2001. The band comprises of two members who have combined their musical talents to provide a clean, rich, acustic sound. Their music encompases several different emotion's as felt in many of their songs, as both band members show their deepest feelings through their music.
A Man in Motion consists of Dave Penney who plays the acustic guitar, sings, as well as plays the bongo drums from time to time. Andrew Simms is the other member who also plays the guitar and sings. Andrew also plays the harmonica. Both members enjoy a large range of music extending from TOOL to Pearl Jam. Bands such as these have greatly influenced both Dave and Andrew, resulting in the vast array of emotions found throughout their work.
Poetry has been another major influence for both Dave and Andrew. As can be seen in their own lyrics, poetic language encompases almost every aspect of their music. A poem written by Andrew has been the groups main inspiration for their first album which is entitled 'Ripping Through the Second'. The poem reads as follows:
I felt a man in motion, Ripping through the second, like someone showing me love, in a flip-book of still photographs.
