13 Stories brings its FunkyPopSexyHouseRap from the ATL!
If you're looking for the soundtrack to your best spring break ever, look no further than 13 Stories! Their flirty, funky, glam-jam is like a frosty pitcher of musical margaritas. Sassy songstress, Cheri D's vocals slide down smooth and hit the spot, but watch out for that serious kick, mixed up for you personally by J3 on bass and Max on drums. 13 Stories' sexy guitarist, Cat (more like a colt in a cowboy hat), serves up tangy guitar licks that make you want to lick the salt off the rim. You will SO want to dance on the table. Oh, pleeeeeez, Mr. Bartender, gimme another round of 13 Stories!!
Cheri D, Cat, J3 and Max hooked up in 1998 and it’s been a groovy pop trip ever since. In 1999, the show Fashion Television discovered 13 Stories over the internet at www.13stories.com and licensed three original songs that were used in three separate episodes. Fashion Television aired on VH-1 and E-Entertainment in over 150 countries worldwide. The resulting success via the internet amounted to the band having its songs downloaded over 99,000 times on mp3.com. In 2000, 13 Stories performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as part of the EAT’M Music Conference in Las Vegas. 13 Stories has played in and around the Southeast on the club circuit for the past two years, putting miles on the van and building a solid fan base. In June of 2002, the band released a single of “Let Us Play”, Produced by Jeff Hodges, with the initial pressing selling out within two weeks. The current 3-song Preview CD was recorded with Producers Jeff Hodges and Don McCollister (Sister Hazel, Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins) and is a preview to 13 Stories’ first full-length CD scheduled for release in late 2003.
What does 13 Stories sound like? The band calls its music FunkyPopSexyHouseRap and the press has been good. Steve Craig from ATL radio station 99X on the 3-song Preview CD, “I think it’s awesome!” EAT’M described 13 Stories as “Anthony Keidis at a Luscious Jackson pool party”; and Knoxville’s Nitelife says, “This band is great live! Blondie meets Prince meets The Jackson 5, meets I don’t know what!” Check it out…
